She Is Becoming

Next Cohort: Winter–Spring 2026

If Only Someone Asked

I cry quietly,
not because I want to be heard,
but because I don’t know how to explain
the weight I carry inside.

I’m becoming someone,
but I don’t know who yet.
Each day asks me to choose a shape,
a voice,
a way to stand in the world—
and I’m tired of pretending I’m sure.

There are questions I don’t have words for,
feelings I don’t know where to put.
I smile because it’s easier.
I stay quiet because I don’t want to be a burden.

If only I could tell someone
how loud my thoughts are at night.
If only they could understand
that I’m trying—
even when it looks like I’m not.

I wish someone would ask me,
really ask,
“How are you doing?”
and wait long enough for the truth to arrive.

I don’t need fixing.
I don’t need answers.
I just need a place to rest my heart.

I wish someone would hold me
without asking me to be stronger.
Tell me they see me—
my effort,
my confusion,
my becoming.

And listen.
Just listen.
